Netarhat & Cherrapunji Watershed Eco-Restoration

Restoring degraded catchment zones and reviving natural springs using community-governed reforestation.

Through integrated watershed management, the SUJALAM mission is driving community-led reforestation, check-dam restoration, and hydrological digital-twin modeling in Netarhat (Jharkhand) and Cherrapunji (Meghalaya).

Reviving Natural Springs

By capturing monsoon runoff and creating natural percolation trenches along mountain contours, local springs that previously ran dry within months of the rainy season are now yielding perennial clean water for downstream communities.
